On October 3rd, 2022, a one-of-a-kind coffee cart opened at Klein Cain High school. It provides the students at Cain with many different treats and drinks: Hot chocolate, iced lattes, frappes, and many other drinks and breakfast foods are available for students to choose from.

This rapid expansion at the school has piqued many students’ interest, as many have questions regarding this new student-operated café. The most prominent debate for the coffee cart is the pricing and taste of this product.

“It was a great experience. The coffee was very sweet,” said Faith Wittered.

“I absolutely love the hot chocolate; it has a special place in my heart, said,” Leslie Gonzalez

These coffee carts will be introduced to all other KISD high school campuses; promoting students’ independence and money management skills, these benefits aid in preparation for the real world.

The cart’s opening shocked many students; on opening day the students were able to get free coffee, as well as breakfast treats.

“When I found out the coffee was free, and the school was giving out free items, it made my morning better to start the day off right. The line went at a reasonable rate, and it was worth the wait. I enjoyed the coffee with my friends and I loved the pop-it that came with the coffee,” said Destiny Rodriguez.

“I walked in that morning in confusion at first, due to seeing a big crowd of people. I originally didn’t know what it was for, but when I saw that it was for a coffee cart I was very excited. Sure the line was long but it was definitely worth it to get a bit of well-needed coffee to properly function throughout the day,” said Brianna Moses.

Numerous students feel they were scared to experience the coffee cart as a result, as they didn’t know what to expect from it. It was new, and students couldn’t tell what to expect from other students’ facial expressions. Many students have not yet tried it due to the excessively long line.

“Well, I was hesitant at first to enjoy and appreciate the small contributions to the school’s atmosphere and the environment. Because, the newest things come from athletics so I’m happy to see the school taking interest in student life, and I still have a love-and-hate relationship with the coffee cart,” said Samantha Martinez.
